We’ve been in the cultural area at the Dayton festival for more years than I can count. The people in the Dayton area have been wonderful supporters of my books and I usually get to see some old friends when I’m there. I attended high school and college in the area and still have many friends from the church I grew up in who live in the area, not to mention my best friend!

The festival is held in Riverscape, which is a lovely downtown park on the river. There is some historical info about the area posted there. A devastating flood hit Dayton in 1913. The park was once called Van Cleve Park after one of Dayton’s first white settlers. There is a line on this stone marker that shows the flood level.
I caught this guy warming up before the festival began.
I played story bingo with the kids. They did great! But I didn’t get any photos. I snapped the one below of Tom helping kids make St. Brigid crosses. We were slammed on Saturday so no other pictures, although I’m pretty bad anyway at remembering to take them. I wouldn’t have the one above of me and my bestie if she hadn’t asked her daughter to take it!
It was a great time and I look forward to next year!
