3. This country still has a lot of unspoiled natural beauty.
I think when you live close to a big city, you forget this and so a road trip is an excellent way to remind yourself of this truth. On this trip I did not travel the whole country, but just a part and since I was in the east, it was a bit of a realization. I’ve traveled in the west. Anyone driving across Texas, for example, will tell you there is a lot of open space. I didn’t fully understand that there is still unpopulated areas, or low populated areas, in the east.
When you go from Ohio to New England, and back, you must drive a long way either through Pennsylvania or New York state. (You have to go through both but depending on which route you go a long way through one or the other) Those are large states! On the way home we drove through New York headed to Erie, PA. The mountains are so green and beautiful.
“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature.
