My New Year’s Tradition
I’ve been picking a word each year, something that I think I’m supposed to learn. Usually, it means something different than I thought it would. Last year’s word, meant to me that I should do more of it: “Create” but it also meant I needed some re-creating of my heart and mind. There were so many ups and downs in 2016, that I had to be flexible and look at things differently sometimes.
My One Word
This year I have been hearing the message, a very good message, that God loves me. It’s an important message that I think I and many other people tend to forget. It’s way too easy to have a pity party. I don’t need to do that to myself. I feel more blessed with how my life is than perhaps any other time in my life. But still…we always want more, don’t we? And when we think our prayers are going unheard, especially when those prayers are for others, not ourselves…well, it’s easy to forget who loves us. So, #myoneword for 2017 is BELOVED.
I hope it reminds me daily that God loves me. Remember the popular TV show, Touched by An Angel? The characters were angels with orders to do things on earth to help people. And when they revealed themselves they announced, “God loves you.”

A Good Book
I’ve mentioned this in past years, but just in case you’re interested in picking a word and want to know more about it, pick up this book. And if you’ve chose a word, let me know in the comments.
My One Word: Change Your Life With Just One Word
my word is “Faith” because it helps me to remember that if i keep the faith, i am promised a home in heaven
Love that, Shelia!
My first thought is that my word needs to be ‘blessed’ for two reasons 1) I say it a lot and 2) I am so blessed! However, everywhere I turn I am reminded I have ‘hope’. After having a tumor removed in 2015 I was diagnosed with a rare condition that just a short ten years ago was usually a death sentence. I have to take a chemo pill daily for at least three years but there is HOPE, so I am reminded of that daily. God is so good! Thanks for the opportunity to share!
How inspirational. Thanks for sharing, Linda. When you are at the end of your rope, you hang on because it’s hope you’re hanging on to.
My one word for the year is “flourish”. I intend to plant a seed of faith and watch it bloom all year. Let’s grow in love and sisterhood.
I like it! Let’s not stand still.
my word is ORCHESTRATE. meaning – to arrange or combine so as to achieve a desired or maximum effect. I will be doing alot of this for 2017. time to get my home in order and finish my myriad of unfinished projects. I decided to do this sometime end of november or beginning of december. not sure when. but I made the decision and I am sticking to it. and Lord help anyone who tries to stop me! this WILL be my year to succeed!!!!
Good for you, Robyn! One word of caution: sometimes the word ends up meaning something totally different to you. No idea if that will happen in your case, but keep us posted! 🙂
Hi Cindy, my word is PERSEVERE. My father has cancer and started Oral Chemo on June 14th. Ive watched him PERSEVERE through it all. While his cancer has no cure and the oral chemo is a life long medicine for him-his perseverance is incredible. He never quits-takes a nap but never quits. I want to be just like him.
What an inspiration. Thanks for sharing, Jane. Blessings to your father.
I am always encouraged reading about other’s words. I do not pick one, myself, but I always try to be a better Christian and show God’s love to others.
Glad to hear you’re encouraged. It is definitely a personal choice. Always good to hear from you1
My word is Faith because this year will be a big test of my faith as I face some daunting circumstances. I know God is faithful.
Hang in there Carrie!
My word is forgiven without forgiveness of my heavenly father I would not be who I am today and am reminded every second of my life when I stumble and fall Jesus picks me up dust me off and tells me child you are forgiven.
What a great word. To forgive and to be forgiven. Nothing more important. Thanks for sharing, Lenora!
My word for the year is “Faith.” To continue to have faith in God even through trials.
A great thing to remember. Thanks for sharing, Steph.
