We’ve been in the cultural area at the Dayton festival for more years than I can count. The people in the Dayton area have been wonderful supporters of my books and I usually get to see some old friends when I’m there. I attended high school and college in the area and still have many friends from the church I grew up in who live in the area, not to mention my best friend!<\/p>\n\n\n

The festival is held in Riverscape, which is a lovely downtown park on the river. There is some historical info about the area posted there. A devastating flood hit Dayton in 1913. The park was once called Van Cleve Park after one of Dayton’s first white settlers. There is a line on this stone marker that shows the flood level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
