“Auld Lang Syne” is a Scottish poem set to music. Robert Burns was the first to put to pen the lyrics and Guy Lombardo made it into the popular New Year’s anthem. Tracing the origin of the song is really impossible. Like so many other stories and legends, what we have now is a combination of ancient bits and pieces. “Auld lang syne” means times gone by, and the reason it’s so popular at New Years is probably because it’s the time of year we tend to reflect. What good happened last year, what bad? What should we never forget?<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Below are the lyrics, which I didn’t know before I looked them up, and also a Scottish video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
