As I write this, I’m not sure how many parts there will be! I have so much to share!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stayed at a B&B that was a little different and very cool. The area is very near Cedar Point amusement park and the Lake Erie islands (and fishing charters), so it’s a prime vacation spot. That means hotels are ridiculously expensive so B&Bs are a great alternative. We only needed a place to stay, nothing luxurious, but this turned out to be much more than we expected. It was much more affordable and included a home cooked breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Farrell House<\/a> has ten guest rooms and is on the grounds of a private trout club (Sunnybrook Trout Club). Only guests of the lodge and members are allowed. This meant it was very quiet and pristine. Guests can use canoes, kayaks, or a paddleboat on a pond, but the best thing is walking along the trout stream on the property. There was so much wildlife to be seen. We saw bald eagles, turtles, a rare songbird called an Orchard Oriole, herons, and of course the trout. The owner told us to follow the stream and head toward a waterwheel and red barn. He said it used to be his property but the present owners don’t mind us having a look at the massive oak tree there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Burr oak tree is so wide it takes six men to reach around it, so the Farrell House owner told me and I don’t doubt it. The tree is the centerpiece of a wedding venue<\/a> now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another tip the owner shared was that the sunrise was spectacular out the window of our room, the only room with an east facing window. Keep in mind, that this was the weekend of the summer solstice. I had to get up at 5:15, but he was right!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
